EAST AFRICA SEMINARY & INSTITUTE INSERVICE

We just returned from Nairobi after attending an outstanding and motivating meeting with the East Africa Seminary and Institute leadership: Brother Kumbalani Mdletshe, Africa Southeast Area CES director, from Johannesburg; Brother Freddie Babayo, Country CES coordinator from Uganda; Brother Tasara Makasi, Country coordinator from Zimbabwe; and Brother Prince Omondi, Africa East CES Director from the Area Office in Nairobi. They are all full time CES employees. We are the Country coordinators for Tanzania and Elder & Sister Hunter, newly arrived missionaries, are called to serve as CES and Member/Leader support in Kitale, Kenya.  Brother Alan Thatcher from CES Headquarters in Salt Lake came to teach us about the new computer enrollment and reporting system called WISE. We received essential information that gave clarity to our calling and a big shot in the arm!

  1. I was just given your blog site by a friend. I went to Highland with Bruce, Julie Pingree Broadbent, and the Claytons. My name is Lorraine Bird Jameson. I'm also serving in Africa as a missionary, as are the Burtons in Burundi and Jim Howell in S.A. They all went to Highland . It was fun to see your pictures with Jeff, Julie and with Elder Kyungu, who lives in Kinshasa, and is our good friend. We also served another mission in DRC and Burundi. We now have three couples in our mission serving as isolated missionary couples. Lots of challenges. You deserve big stars. Highland High certainly is well represented in the Africa SE Area.

  2. Elder & Sister Worthen, Greetings from Mapleton, Ut! It is such a small world in the church. We are serving at the MTC with a former mission companion of Elder Worthen...Val Dunn. I see you are serving in Kenya with a former mission companion of Rod's...Brother Hunter. Rod and Bro. Hunter were in Germany at the same time and we ocassionally see them at the mission reunions in SLC.
It is great keeping up with all the good you are doing. We send our love and all good wishes for you and your family.
